The year 1950 was a very successful one for Ford, both with its passenger and commercial lines. Automobile production was more than two million units while truck production was the greatest since 1929. Of the various commercial vehicles Ford offered in 1950, one produced by Ford Motor Company Ltd. in England was the Model E83W. It was a light-duty Thames-van with left-hand drive and was enormously popular throughout Europe. The Ford Model E83W contained a number of fascinating and unique characteristics. The torque-tube, which was no longer available on American made vehicles, radius-rod drive and a 3/4 floating rear axle enhanced its appeal, while its pre-war body design made the E83W unique to say the least.
